:: Personalize

Some people use the term "new" and some other ironically disagree with "new", but use "re-invent" instead. While I prefer "personalize". Each word brings slightly different meaning/s. This is wht we call "mature words" or the definite name is "Balaghah", which leads us to the sweetness of a language.

Again, we dun re-invent Cham script. We personalize it in this modern period of time. Personalizing takes place only when there's ample of information which needs to be structured, so tht it wuld be easy for recognizing n understanding. We study the origins of the information, how it influence other information, n how it transform.

While in the other hand, personally, "new" and "re-invent" are probably an "innovation", which seems "manipulating" some facts to create new facts. This isn't our principle of work. History remains history, future is another thing. "New"/"re-invent" create a state of unclear due to the clash between past n present, which directly making it not understandable. And, the 'less' informed people will straightly believe the 're-invent' thing U bring. Seems not gud for me.

Dun blame people who din undstand U. Check the words U choose, the stretegy U use. Vitally, be sincere, truthful, honest, n clear. Maybe later. Me? I neva care. Coz my work is a lifetime's, n the result is as long as Cham language live. Whether U care or not, isnt in my attention coz I dun do things for myself.

:: This Longing

I said I long for my homeland so dearly.

They said I was so baby then, it can't be.

I don't have friends, I don't have memory..

Yes, I agree, they're right. ....Partially...

In this journey, life really flings me into a deep misery.

I feel so alien, no one understands what's in me!!

Try...I try, I really try but still I'm belonged to not here.

Years, decades pass by..so where is my place actually??

Waha Bani, apsaras, Katé, are not the things I should celebrate

It's someones' cloth outside but the blood, hey I'm so Cham inside!

I do fasting during Ramâwan or Ramajan, any problem with that?

I'm 'Cam Ahier' huh? Ah who cares, the towers are too, my pride right?

I was born there, Palei Kaoh... my parents mention the name.

How does it look like, so do Padra, Pabhar, Puk Kin ..Palei Ram?

Bimong Po Klaong, Bimong Po Sah, Po Nager, Po Romé, Po Dam..?

Bal Caong, Cek Cambang, Aia Trang? I'm tired keep imagining them!

Day meets night and night meets day, I'm still in isolation.

I keep my faith still, be determined to fulfill a painful demand.

I, me and my self keep learning in this solitary, it's our passion.

My heart, my soul yell for a return, yell for what are mine.

I'm growing up being a person with heart with love.

All these while, I can't figure out what love can gives.

Now I see love is a trigger, for the desire, a power.

As love presents, I start to trace the track of the older.....

Step..by step..alone.

--------------------

It's not nothing for me there, it's my home. I gain the memory from the ancestors, they left us a very valuable sort of knowledge - the language. It's maybe differ due to the geographical and social matters, but it's still our ONE Cham language. Please be in my shoes and try to suffer how hurt I am instead of asking me what do I have in Vietnam...

:: We are One

SIMBA:

As you go through life you'll see

There is so much that we

Don't understand

And the only thing we know

Is things don't always go

The way we planned

But you'll see every day

That we'll never turn away

When it seems all your dreams come undone

We will stand by your side

Filled with hope and filled with pride

We are more than we are

We are one

KIARA:

If there's so much I must be

Can I still just be me

The way I am?

Can I trust in my own heart

Or am I just one part

Of some big plan?

SIMBA:

Even those who are gone

Are with us as we go on

Your journey has only begun

Tears of pain, tears of joy

One thing nothing can destroy

Is our pride, deep inside

We are one

We are one, you and I

We are like the earth and sky

One family under the sun

All the wisdom to lead

All the courage that you need

You will find when you see

We are one

Sometimes, fears of the elders makes me confuse which way I should choose.. An independent person tied to some rules with no full clarification, it's kind of conflicting. Maybe because I'm just a raw bud so I can't really understand what he's talking about. I can't choose the fate of my blood, all I have are some colors I dun like, to colorize my endless journey as a responsible. And all of the colors are only black base. Months ago a man asked me who is the owner of "black blog". He called my blog "black" even there is title on top. He addressed my blog so precisely.

Let's listen to the song which I've been listening since my teenage. Enjoy... =)

:: Majid Transliteration - Jawi Cham

"And of His signs are the creation of the Heavens and the Earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed in that are signs for those of knowledge" - arRum 22.

First of all, Majid Transliteration isn’t about the modernization of Cham language. “Majid Transliteration” is a name given to the Huruf Cham in Arabic form. This kind of script is also known as Jawi Cham.

Jawi Cham is being observing by us since more than 20 years ago, which, the range of observation covers all the Muslim villages in An Giang province and Cambodia. We use mostly the Huruf Cham from Cambodia based on some qualities that the Huruf Cham from Vietnam doesn’t has. The Huruf Cham in Vietnam isn’t coincides from one village to another, even if for the same village. We agree that this situation also happens in Cambodia but the significance of the Huruf Cham in Cambodia is that there is a Mufti who will standardize the writing for the whole Cham in Cambodia. If there’s disagreement, well, it’s very slight. Another criteria we go trough is the figure of the hurufs. Example, the Arabians have "د" then "ذ" ..."ر" then “ز” ..”س” “ش” ..and so on. We realize something synchronous in their writing, “the dot”. Logically, most of the dots are at the above. So, for the Akhar Ndak, we choose to use “dal with 3 dots above ” (Cambodia) instead of “dal with a dot below ڑ” (Vietnam). Ooops I forgot to mention, again, Mr Majid is from An Giang. So later on, don’t accuse that Majid Transliteration is developed by the Cambodian Cham just because we use most of their hurufs. Our team is Cham for overall.

We use “huruf ر” instead of "غ" for the Inâ Rak and Takai Krak. Some of the Jahed said Panduranga uses Rrrr (the sound of ر) but Kampong Chanang uses Ghhhh (the sound of غ as in "cô gái"). It is obviously no difference for both Eastern and Western scripts because Cham language is grouped in Melayo Polynesian language. Example, “rup” is “rupa”, "bicar" is "bicara", “drei” is “diri”, "daruai" is "duri", "marai" is "mari", "harei" "hari", "rabung" "rebung", "ribau" "ribu"..ect. Isn't “ر” makes Cham language so similar to the other Malay languages?

We decide to name it Majid Transliteration to differentiate this kind of Jawi Cham from the other Jawi Cham. Many Muslim Cham researchers who conscientious to preserve our language aren't study Cham language from the root, The Akhar Cham in Indic Sanskrit form. We can’t say a word is written correctly unless there’s proof from Cham inscriptions, or another way – set a council. The word ‘baik’ in Cham language can’t be understood by the Chams around An Giang and Cambodia, as they usually use “waik”. Well, ‘baik’ is a standard Cham language. We write “rup” instead of “rub” because there’s no “b” at the end of all Cham words. It’s okay if you can’t read Majid Transliteration, but this is not an excuse for us to stop. We shall continuously keep moving linking with the ancestors for the sake of the forthcoming generations.

Our team is ready and open for any debate and discussion, to create a better script for the Muslim Chams worldwide. We don’t say that Majid Transliteration is the fix one, we shall reorganize if there are logic and justified points. Anybody is welcomed, not excluded the Balamons.

Last but not least, let us examine this simple phrase:

Cam: “Parandap hagait krung njep, panjep hagait krung randap”.

Melayu: “Biasakan yang betul, betulkan yang biasa”.

English: “Habituate right things, do rightly habitual things”.

Anything, please leave your comment. Thank you for your precious time, great day!

-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-

Cam: “Parandap hagait krung njep, panjep hagait krung randap”.

Melayu: “Biasakan yang betul, betulkan yang biasa”.

English: “Habituate right things, do rightly habitual things”.

Apa jua pandangan, sila tinggalkan komen anda. Terima kasih untuk masa anda, great day!

1) Focusing on the accurate usage of Cam language in Arabic form; Huruf Cam form around the world.

2) User guidance – the way how to spell words based on Akhar Cam.

3) Akhar Cam applied is the Eastern Cam Script; Vietnamese Cam form.

4) Rumi Cam applied is based on the 'Ecole Française d'Extrème Orient (EFEO) system.

4) Words are arranged in alphabetical order, with the root words, plus derived words based on the manuscripts referred.

5) To educate Cham people how beautiful Cham Language is, to remind Cham people what the ancestors have said, to help to preserve Cham language and to prevent from a severe contamination.

6) Examples given are based onCham and Malay idioms, historical villages and places and events in Campa, daily informal speech of the Chams in the dialects around Panduranga-Angiang-Cambodia. Anyway, the serious slang like "nao ~ niao..tada ~ tadia..sadang(saradang) ~ sadiang --- habar ~ haban..war ~ wan" isn't applied. The dictionary also talks about Islam and the way the Chams earn for the living. In addition, it also states some of the accommodations in Malaysia, but yet it hasn’t talk about the way the Chams in Malaysia struggle for the living.

:: I'm Wondering...

Anonymous: When i read through ariya poem seem like i read Indian Language. Reading Cham script is like reading Chinese or Indian Scripts. The writing is very weird.

naiCampa: I’m not surprise for this statement. U know about Khmer Rouge and the wickedness, U know abt JFK of the USA, U know about Shakespeare and his sonnets, U know abt Charles Darwin and his evolutionary theories, U know abt World Wars and the consequences..U know who invented the ball-pens..U know almost everything that your brain capable to. But, U never know about YOURSELF. All U know is that “I am a Cham”, “We have the language”, “We lost our country but not the people”. But sadly, U hv no proof for your statements! U dun even speak in “the language” U own. Sure, U can say that I’m insane because I’m doing something that many people won’t get to understand. Hahh, even I myself feel tht way sometimes, but wht to do? I can’t choose the gene type which I’m inheriting, also, I can’t choose the language in my tounge. All I can do is that tracing wht is mine. Ancient Cam script is one of our possession. Well, briefly speaking, let me ask U a simple question – do U feel weird with the Cambodian script in this clip?

I bet U will answer “NO”. Haha..isn’t it seemed to be alike to the Indian script…?

I am a Cam girl from Campa Kingdom, and I'm considered "freaky" when I'm learning my native form of writings; while U are also a Cam from Campa, but U seemed to be so familiar with the script which is not yours. This is not juz weird, but EXTREMELY weird!

Now I’m wondering…

*Sorry radiosapcham.com, I need to "borrow" your clip, dun sue me, I hv no money!

This singer is from Chau Doc, my origin but not in the same village. So, the dialect is a bit different ..eg: he pronounces "hader" while I pronounce "hadar"..."wer" ~ "war"..emm.. I'm confuse with the areas in Angiang province - ChauPhong, ChauGiang...ChauDoc...wht on Earth are those places???? Very blur in my head.

This song is mostly in Cam language, sure. However it contains many Malay and Arabian words, also some Khmer words, while no Vietnamese words detected. But the melody is in Vietnamese culture.

1) Wahai(Malay) = Cam: somewhat like "Aey" "Wey" "Hec"...

2) Ikhwan(Arab) - Cam: "Gep gan". I spelled "ikwan" in Akhar Thrah because we dun have "paoh Khak" there. If I use "Khak", it will be read as "ikhawan".

3) Sahabat(Arab) = Cam: "Gep gan". Errkk..I dun know how to explain the difference between "ikhwan" and "sahabat" ..and another confusing Arabian word "khali" ...these words bring the same meaning as "friend".. [I'm juz a silly girl!].

4) Nasihat(Arab) = Cam: "Pataow pahader". ~Advice.

5) Sunat(Arab) = $%$#%^@! I'm stucked, dun know how to explain.

6) Fardhu(Arab) = Same thing, dun know how to translate the meaning.

7) Yakin(Malay) = English: be sure, confident. Cam = ?

8) Maot(Arab) = English: death..Cam = tuk matai...[?]

9) Iman(Arab) = English: faith, belief in Allah. Cam = jier saong gi-mbak saong Allah

10) Dun get confuse with "haduissa" and "haduissak".

11) Sa-mbai(Khmer)

12) Suka(Malay) = or we can call it the Melayo-Polynesian word.

13) Jumrah = Somewhere like "a court", but "jumrah" is a verb, not a noun. ...I dun know whether it's Khmer's or Cam's... [?]

I tried to write in Huruf Cam, but I'm having a little problem with the huruf "njak"...so, later.
